CV3033 Strength of Materials I – Civil

January 30, 2022

This course examines the behaviour of engineering materials under various loading conditions. The concepts of stress and strain are critically examined with an emphasis on the application of those concepts to practical design and analysis problems. The analysis of statically determinate beams or frame structures with emphasis placed on the construction of the shear and bending moment diagrams will be examined. This course also covers the concepts of elastic and thermal deformation as well as thermal stresses developed due to temperature changes.
