Cindy Hare is a professor at Canadore College, North Bay, ON. Also works as an Education Consultant and the Bear Island Education Authority School Board Chair Person. Cindy has worked in the field of Education for the past 30 years, as and Early Childhood Educator, School Teacher, Principal / Education Director and Program Planner, researcher and College Coordinator and Professor. Cindy’s education includes an Early Childhood Education diploma., a Bachelor of Social Work, a Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education Degree specializing in Educational Leadership.
Cindy is Ojibway Anishnaabe from Temagami First Nation – meaning “deep water people”. Indigenous world views, teachings, anishnaabe values and culture is imbedded in all the work that she does. Cindy’s overall professional goals are to help Anishnaabe students be successful in higher education and to live a good life – Mino Biimaadziwin as well as teach mainstream Canadians about the wonderment of the Indigenous culture. Cindy spends much of her time fishing in the summer and winters. A great love of the place she lives, Bear Island, Mukwa Minissing, enjoying the medicine of the lake and beauty of the land.
