How to Include a Mashup<\/strong><\/p>\nA \u201cMashup\u201d is a feature in Blackboard that allows for the viewing and sharing of media content from external websites.<br \/>\nFor this example, you will start in Week 3.\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/1-8.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/1-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1. Click on \u201cBuild Content\/Mashups\/YouTube Video\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2-8.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"305\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Rather than opening a new tab and loading YouTube to find a video you want, like you did in previous demonstrations. You simply just need to put the name of the video in the search bar seen below. Then click go.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/3-8.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/3-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"489\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/4-7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/4-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"43\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Your search will return a number of videos. Simply scroll through and choose the video you were looking for by clicking on \u201cSelect\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/5-7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/5-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"562\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, by default, it puts the name of the video. It also allows you to change the color of the title if you want it to stand out more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/6-8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/6-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. You can add a description as well in this section below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/7-7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/7-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"814\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Under \u201cMashup Option\/View\u201d, you have three options: Thumbnail, Text Link with Player and Embed Video. For this example, we will leave it at thumbnail. But please try the other two options.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/8-6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/8-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"322\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6. If you\u2019d like to show the URL (which is the address of the video), you would change this to yes. Otherwise, leave it to the default of no.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/9-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/9-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you want to show the YouTube information, the default is yes. If you do not want to show it, change the option to no.<\/p>\n<p>7. A \u201cMashups\u201d also allows you to \u201cAttach a Document\u201d much like we did in previous examples when you were building content. Simply browse your computer and find the file you\u2019d like to attach.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/10-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/10-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"424\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>8. The \u201cStandard Options\u201d, you can leave set to default.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/11-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/11-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1007\" height=\"524\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At this point, you can click preview beforehand if you\u2019d like to see how this item will look. When you are done, Click Submit.<\/p>\n<p>Your video now shows up directly in Blackboard as a thumbnail. Students can click \u201cWatch Video\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/nursing.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/nursing.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And it opens directly in Blackboard without opening a new window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/13-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/13-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"603\" height=\"390\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMashup Options\u201d are also available for Flickr Photo, SlideShare Presentation, and Blackboard Open Content. But for the most part, you will be using YouTube Video.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/14-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/14-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"484\" height=\"353\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\u201cMashups\u201d can be used in various ways.<br \/>\n\u2022 As a stand-alone object like you just did above<br \/>\n\u2022 They can also be included as part of a test question, within your assignment.
