Adding Menu Items<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. To add new menu items to options, click on the plus button in the top left hand corner.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"461\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here you will see I have eight options available to me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"311\" height=\"321\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>B. Selecting Menu Items<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Creating a <strong>Content Area, a Module Page, or Blank Page<\/strong>, uses all of the same steps.<\/p>\n<p>1. I&#8217;m going to click on what I would like to create.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"257\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Give it a name.<\/p>\n<p>3. You&#8217;ll notice here it asks if I want this to be available to users, by default when I create a new link it is not available to users.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. If I want it to be available, click the check box next to Available to Users.<\/p>\n<p>5. Click &#8220;Submit&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"239\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My new item automatically goes to the bottom of the list, you\u2019ll see I&#8217;ve now created a new item called Tests.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"324\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6. Click it and you&#8217;ll see that it mimics the course content area that we already have built in our course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>C. Adding A Tool Link<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The other thing that I can do is insert a Tool Link and a Tool Link is a menu item that links users to a specific blackboard tool.<\/p>\n<p>1. Click on the plus sign. Click on Tool Link.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"291\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Before I give it a name I&#8217;d like to show you your options, click the <strong>dropdown arrow <\/strong>under \u201c<strong>Type:<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"368\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These are all of the different tools available within the blackboard course for you to use. Some of them are already on our list, for example announcements. Other common ones are Discussion Board tools, Group tools, Journal tools, etc.<\/p>\n<p>3. So for this example, I&#8217;m going to create a discussion board.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"421\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. Give it <strong>a name<\/strong> and make it <strong>available to users<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>5. Click \u201c<strong>Submit<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>6. This Discussion board now again falls to the bottom of the list.<\/p>\n<p>7. Go inside this new tool, you&#8217;ll see that my menu options are a little bit different and in this case what I can do is Create a new Forum.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/c11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"469\" height=\"361\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>D. Adding A Weblink<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Next menu item I&#8217;m going to include is a Web Link.<\/p>\n<p>1. Click <strong>Web Link<\/strong> and give it a name.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"439\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. For this example I want the students to navigate to the Northern College website, so I&#8217;m going to copy the URL.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"536\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Paste it here in this URL spot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"411\" height=\"355\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. Make it <strong>available to users<\/strong> and click \u201c<strong>Submit<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>5. When I click on this item now, it will automatically open up the Northern College web page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/wl4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"451\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>E. Adding A Course Link<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. I can also create a <strong>Course Link<\/strong>, which links the users to a specific spot within my course that I would like them to go to.<\/p>\n<p>2. We&#8217;re going to choose <strong>Browse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3. In this instance, I want to link the students to the \u201cAssignment #1\u201d that we created earlier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"418\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. When I do that, it automatically puts in the name of \u201c<strong>Assignment #1<\/strong>\u201d. I\u2019m going to make it available to users and click \u201c<strong>Submit<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"312\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. If I click on this link\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"413\" height=\"317\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6. \u2026it automatically takes me inside that \u201c<strong>Assignment #1<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/p4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"645\" height=\"378\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>F. Adding Subheaders and Dividers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The last two menu options that you can create are ways to help you organize your menu items. You can create a Subheader and create Dividers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/s1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/s1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"258\" height=\"306\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1. For this example I&#8217;m going to take the option <strong>Tests<\/strong> and I\u2019m going to move it up here with my <strong>Assignments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"460\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"460\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Click the <strong>+<\/strong> sign and create a <strong>Subheader<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3. I&#8217;m going to call this Subheader \u201c<strong>Evaluations<\/strong>\u201d. Click Submit.<\/p>\n<p>4. Move Evaluations up to be with Assignments and Tests.<\/p>\n<p>5. Then I&#8217;m going to create a couple of Dividers, click <strong>Dividers twice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/leid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/q3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Drag those up to above and below my evaluation.
