Developed in partnership with Sandvik, in collaboration with Kirkland Lake Gold, this course is designed to upskill electrical service technicians working with Battery Electric Vehicles in an underground mining environment.

A fully online course, modules can be completed anytime, anywhere to match your schedule. This microlearning style course incorporate technology which allows you to complete your training in 15 to 20 hours compared to a 40 hour instructor lead course.

 

Course Content

Part 1: Energy Storage – Energy Storage is a 9-part course that provides comprehensive coverage of safe work practices in BEV environment, BEV battery principles, print reading, design and function of control systems including Battery Management System and high voltage interlock loop (HVIL), Communications software navigation skills, BEV charging systems and charging philosophy, battery maintenance skills, and diagnostics and troubleshooting skills with practical applications.

Part 2: Motive Power Fundamentals – Motive Power Fundamentals is a 3-part course that promotes safe practices when working on or around Battery Electric Vehicles in an underground mining environment, the components of BEV scoop and haul trucks, and powertrain/propulsion layout and components.
