Intake 3 – November 21, 2022 – February 3, 2023
Intake 4 – January 9, 2023 – March 24, 2023


This modular program has a 95% graduate employment success rate. The program covers the knowledge and skills required to work competently as an Underground Hard Rock Miner.

Although customizable to meet the mining area’s specific needs, this modular training program covers some areas of competency required in the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development Modular Program 770010. Students may also receive additional health and safety training as it pertains to the mining sector.


Delivery and Important Information

This program requires a partnership with mining operations that can provide access to an underground stope and support placement for students in underground operations. Delivery is face-to-face with hands-on learning and practice in the underground environment.


Pathways to Success and Career Opportunities

Graduates fill entry-level roles working in underground mining operations and have a PS credit for Northern College Trade and Technology Programs.


Pre-requisites (may include but not be limited to):

  • Future Focused – Work and Job Readiness
  • Participants must have a Grade 10 or equivalent and must be able to read and write in the English language.
  • Participants may be required to participate in a Drug and Alcohol Testing.
  • Participants may be required to complete a Medical Assessment.
