Doug Clark

Doug Clark is a former academic Dean/Director at Northern College, a role he held for 15 years prior to his retirement from full-time work at the college last December. In that role he enjoyed working with the college’s teams from the 3 main campuses and in a range of diverse program areas including veterinary sciences, environmental technician, business and academic upgrading. During the last 3 years of his career, he had the privilege of having responsibility for the Haileybury School of Mines’ historic programs in mining and instrumentation added to his portfolio. He’s still continuing with some project support to our post-secondary mining program improvements. While his education is in business he always felt his principal asset in the role was his insatiable curiosity.

Jim Kendall

Jim Kendall is the Program Coordinator and a Professor in the Mining Engineering Technician program at Northern College in Haileybury, Ontario. This Mining program and the Instrumentation program constitute the Haileybury School of Mines, which was founded in 1912 and has had a major impact on the development of the global mining industry. Jim is a Professional Engineer, and he is both a mining engineer and electronics engineer. He holds four engineering degrees in electrical and mining engineering, and engineering physics. He has worked in both the mining and electronics industries at a variety of executive, managerial, and technical positions. His two disciplines found their intersection in his invention of the Mineral Insights product that measures the concentration of gold and minerals by analyzing high resolution digital images of drill core and other mineral samples. Jim is currently applying his two engineering disciplines to research on the development of a new geophysics technology. Jim began teaching at Northern College in December 2018 and was appointed Program Coordinator in June 2019. Jim is currently working on re-starting the on-site Mining program at the Northern College Haileybury campus. This will permit the Mining program to be a dual stream on-site and on-line program, that will enhance its ability to graduate students to work in the Canadian mining industry.
