Jason Boissonneault

Jason Boissonneault is a professor in the School of Business at Northern College. He is a lead instructor in the Project Management, Information Systems Business Analysis, and Global Business Entrepreneurship and Technology programs. Jason also teaches Entrepreneurship, Taxation, and Accounting courses across various programs. Born and raised in Timmins, Jason is passionate about the growth and prosperity of Northern Ontario. Jason holds a Business Administration Accounting diploma from Cambrian College, a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting from the University of Windsor, and an MBA from the University of Windsor. Career highlights include working at a local business consulting firm, where he helped establish over 100 enterprises across Northeast Ontario. Jason has also gained experience in Small Business Banking with Scotiabank, collaborating with businesses of all sizes.
James Franks

James has worked in Tourism and Economic Development in the region since 1997. He has been involved in regional tourism development programs since that time and is currently a board member of Northeastern Ontario Tourism. As a one-person department at the City of Temiskaming Shores, he is involved in all aspects of community development within the region and leads the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase annually at the PDAC and CIM annual conventions. James brought the first Feast ON the Farm event to Northern Ontario in 2023 which has since resulted in the Culinary Tourism Alliance to host one event annually in Northern Ontario. He also hosts Forestry Day tours with regional elected officials during each term of Council to showcase how the forestry sector impacts the local economy and to show that even though a community may not have a mill, they are still connected to the forestry sector.
Brenda Camirand

Brenda serves as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Timmins, leveraging over 20 years of experience in project management and business development to implement strategic initiatives that foster economic growth and diversification. She provides leadership in key areas, including investment attraction, entrepreneurship, tourism, and community development. Her team oversees a broad portfolio encompassing small business support through The Business Enterprise Centre, innovation initiatives such as the CORE5 program and Link North Boost funding, as well as sector development including mining, mining supply and services, agriculture, renewable energy, film, and immigration. Brenda works in close collaboration with government agencies, community organizations, educational institutions, and private sector stakeholders to advance economic development objectives and drive sustainable growth for the region. Brenda is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a certified Economic Development professional (Ec.D.), and holds a diploma in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo, and a diploma in Business Administration from Cambrian College
Ian Lane

Ian Lane is the Executive Director of the Northern Ontario Angels. With a diverse career in economic development, he enjoys fostering connections between entrepreneurs and angel investors across Northern Ontario. Ian has lived across Canada and has called Northern Ontario home since 2012. He is fortunate to work with innovators that are answering the unique challenges of Northern Ontario while also stimulating regional economic development opportunities. He holds a MA from Metropolitan Toronto University in Immigration and Settlement Studies. He still enjoys playing music, sports, and the odd sail.
