Joseph Nakogee, Indigenous Student Advisor Northern College
I have been with Northern College since 2006. Before that, 10 years with Contact North as Program Assistant/Coordinator. My first 3 summer jobs were with Northern College, Maintenance Department. About 30 years in the Northern College building! I am from Moosonee and I had lived there for 35 years. I am a member of Moose Cree First Nation, in Moose Factory. I am a father of three, two daughters and a son. My step-daughter has 4 children of her own whom I consider my grandchildren. I have been sober since 1997. I believe our families, and our religion/spirituality beliefs is the foundation to our happiness. Culture does enhance lives, strengthens our resilience, and allows us to seek harmony with people, places, and within ourselves. My part-time hobby is acting, I have been in five movies and 1 TV show, Letterkenny, the most recognized role I’m known for. Life gave us titles, roles and lines, and may our life stories help, our children, family, friends, youths, and adults in our communities.
