Reporting to the Director, Marketing, Communications and External Relations, the successful candidate will serve as a primary recruitment contact and ongoing liaison between the College and prospective students, current students, industry, community groups, secondary schools and other influencers in various matters relating to the application for admission, program information, course information, and college services. What you will be doing:
  • Liaises with secondary school educators, industry, upgrading/adult education centres, and other influencers for the purpose of collecting leads and recruiting students into Northern College’s skilled trades and technology programs;
  • Visits high schools in the Northern College catchment, and throughout Northern Ontario and into Northwestern Quebec (other regions may be required) for grade 11/12 presentations, parent-teacher events, Grade 10 career classes, coop presentations, career and education fairs and follow-up visits;
  • Assists with the planning, coordinating, logistics and implementation of major College marketing internal and external events (i.e.: career fairs at local area high schools);
  • Collects and enters leads from prospective students and influencers into the CRM (i.e. Salesforce) in a timely manner; and
  • Remains responsible for preparing; maintaining and reviewing individual recruitment travel budgets during recruitment cycle.

  • Contributes to the College’s Vision/Mission/Strategic Priorities by actively participating on internal committees, and supports the development, implementation and maintenance of strategic partnerships, projects, etc;
  • Under the supervision of the respective program Dean, develops and implements academic and other strategies, policies and procedures specific to departments and program offerings;
  • Provides leadership in the annual and comprehensive program review process (preparation for College Quality Assurance Accreditation Process (CQAAP)) and any external accreditation processes by ensuring programs and course learning outcomes are established, achievable, and congruent with Ministry vocational, professional college, and external accrediting body standards;
  • Participates in establishing enrolment targets and projecting student enrolment for academic planning as reflected in the Strategic Enrolment Management & Marketing plan;
  • Ensures the retention and success of students and objectives of the programs and courses offered by the departments on the Haileybury Campus are attained;
  • Identifies staffing requirements for part-time faculty;
  • Maintains a high level of performance through effective recruitment, selection, developing, motivation, evaluation and training of part-time faculty;
  • Assigns part time faculty assignments consistent with College policies and procedures, including collaborating with Human Resource Services for the completion of Step Calculations and employee assignments;
  • Responsible for financial planning, which includes developing, monitoring, forecasting and directing the budget activity for programs within areas of responsibility, and reporting the activity to the respective program Dean; and
  • Ensures collaborative partnership agreements, consortium agreements and articulation agreements with other educational institutions are maintained and the terms and agreements are followed, focused on the direction provided by the respective program Dean.

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Business, Biological Sciences, Mining Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, or related subject area;
  • Seven (7) years of experience working in a higher education setting or managing human resources and budgets and participating in strategic planning is required. Experience must include progressive work experience leading to a management/leadership capacity working within a team and/or with external partners. Other relevant experience may be considered;
  • Ability to use College systems (MIS), as well MS Office Suite software;
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to student success, teaching excellence, quality education; and

  • Processes payrolls for all full-time, part-time and casual employees, ensuring they are accurate and are made in accordance with the payroll schedules, government regulations, and College policies and procedures, and Collective Agreements;
  • Ensures that appropriate deductions and remittances are prepared and submitted, such as CRA, CAAT Pension, Sun Life, garnishments, EHT, and OPSEU and Local Union dues, in accordance with legislative requirements;
  • Maintains all payroll data records, accurately, as well as items such as accrued and distributed sickness and vacation pay, and absence reporting including Leaves of Absences;
  • Verifies, confirms, and balances calendar year end employment earnings, deductions, and benefits for T4, and T4A reporting; Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, on an annual basis;
  • Liaises with external auditor during year end process and provides requested information;
  • Liaises with other areas such as the Finance department to ensure records are accurate; and
  • Perform certain pension and benefit duties and is the backup to the Pension & Benefits Specialist.
