  • Vacuums, sweeps and mops floors as appropriate, empties waste baskets and removes trash. Maintains floors through surface cleaning, spray buffing and polishing. Maintains carpets including performing minor repairs;
  • May be required to shovel snow and controls ice problems as required. Performs basic grounds maintenance as required. Operates equipment required for the above tasks;
  • May be required to perform minor repairs to buildings and equipment as appropriate; and
  • Maintains equipment in good working order.

  • Maintain/repair damaged or deteriorated interior and exterior building finishes through demand work orders or planned preventative maintenance;
  • Undertake repairs to drywall, masonry and glass (i.e. caulking and patching) some demolition and construction of drywall partitions as required. Performs painting (i.e. washrooms, corridors, classes, offices etc.) tasks as required;
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance such as install, maintain and repair plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, facets, drinking fountains etc..; clear obstructions from water;
  • Pick up and deliver materials and supplies and move equipment and furniture;
  • Monthly inspection of fire extinguishers, stand pipe systems, fire hydrants, emergency telephones, first aid kits and eye wash stations; and
  • Contact contractors and suppliers to schedule repairs and maintenance visits as needed. Ensures Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are followed. Monitors outcome of work performed.

  • Class G driver’s license; and
  • WHMIS and First Aid/CPR/AED.

Reporting to the Campus Manager, Moosonee, the successful candidate will concentrate on the maintenance of a quality, safe daycare environment. The incumbent will lead and monitor activities in the daycare through planning, maintaining program delivery and establishing/ maintaining collaborative relationships with families. The incumbent will provide assistance with admission and discharge of children, meal center preparation, distribution of meals and snacks and cleanliness of toys and the center. What you will be doing:
  • Assist the childcare team by providing care-giving routines;
  • Assist with the supervision of children in all facets of the childcare schedule;
  • Assist with cleaning and disinfecting of Centre; and
  • Maintain effective and clear communications with co-workers, the children and the parents/guardians.
What you will need to be considered:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • 1 year practical and related childcare work experience. Relevant experience in the field of health services may be considered;
  • Current First Aid/CPR;
  • WHMIS certificate required; and
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a criminal record and vulnerable sector check and immunization record.
