Northern College is seeking an Associate Registrar in our Student Services, Institutional Research & Registrar’s Office. The successful candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and customer service abilities in addition to excellent written and verbal communication capabilities. They must possess strong project management skills, and well-developed presentation, and organizational skills. In addition, they must be proficient in the Ontario College Application System, student and enterprise administration systems (MIS), and Microsoft Office Suite. Reporting to the Executive Director, Student Services, Institutional Research & Registrar, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing the performance of the Registrar’s Office (RO) operations. This includes the College’s admissions, records, student fees, and transcribing functions,  transcript and credential production, enrolment services, and liaising with Student Services on registration and financial aid functions. The incumbent provides strategic direction and oversight to staff who are ensuring the overall performance and effectiveness of processes and services to support meeting departmental objectives, the College’s strategic priorities, and enrolment targets. What you will be doing:
  • Provide team leadership and strategic direction for the services offered in Admissions and the Registrar’s Office through the development, enhancement, and ongoing management of Registrarial and Admissions Services college-wide, systems processes and services that support admissions, registration, fees collection, record keeping, enrolment management, audit, and convocation for all post-secondary programs as well as student success initiatives and services;
  • Oversee the tuition and ancillary fee development cycle in preparation for presentation to the Board of Governors by the Executive Director Student Services, Institutional Research & Registrar;
  • Develop, implement and monitor processes to ensure that enrolment targets are met with a collaborative approach across the institution;
  • Directs the functions related to admission and recording of all students/clients enrolled in college programs, ensuring that Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) and college policies are adhered to and that proper records – both financial and academic – are maintained for all students/clients of the college;
  • Certifies the authenticity of student records and transcripts ensuring compliance with academic and graduation requirements and is responsible for overseeing the production of transcripts, diplomas and certificates;
  • Assists with Strategic Enrolment Management & Marketing (SEMM) initiatives through enrolment and retention strategies and the use of proactive institutional research reports and analytics. Works collaboratively with all pertinent departments to support and foster a culture of SEMM;
  • Liaises with Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) Colleges Ontario, and the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS) and ensures compliance with reports, policies and guidelines, as well as any other relevant ministries or agencies, as delegated by the Executive Director Student Services, Institutional Research & Registrar; and
  • Administers and manages the overall operations of the Enrolment Audit. Supervises all employees involved in the enrolment audit process.

  • 4-year Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations/ Business or other related/relevant field of study;
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Registrar’s Office environment (or similar), in a position that includes exercising leadership skills and decision-making responsibilities, and sound knowledge of institution’s procedures, policies and student information system;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Postsecondary and Secondary School systems;
  • Strong understanding of the admissions elements of a student information system;
  • Working knowledge of databases, good knowledge of College programs; and
  • Valid Driver’s License

The successful candidate will be able to manage their time effectively, work both alone and in a team, be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy. The incumbent will demonstrate knowledge of working within Health and Safety guidelines and proper food handling techniques. In addition, they will demonstrate patience, empathy and friendliness towards the children and their parents/guardians. Experience working in the janitorial area is considered an asset.   • Properly store and maintain inventory of food and cleaning products;
  • Follow approved menu plan; and
  • Deliver food to the daycare centre.
What you will need to be considered:
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Food Handler Certification or equivalent;
  • 5 years of related practical experience; and
  • Ability to provide proof of required immunizations.

  • Two (2) year diploma in Early Childhood Education or relevant equivalent;

  • Valid First Aid/ CPR and Food Handling Certificate;
  • Ability to provide a copy of immunization record; and

  • Assist with cleaning and disinfecting of Centre; and
  • Maintain effective and clear communications with co-workers, the children and the parents/guardians.
What you will need to be considered:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • 1 year practical and related childcare work experience. Relevant experience in the field of health services may be considered;
  • Current First Aid/CPR;
  • WHMIS certificate required; and
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a criminal record and vulnerable sector check and immunization record.
