Northern College Awards Longtime Faculty with Emeritus Status

KIRKLAND LAKE, ON: Northern College is proud to announce that long time Kirkland Lake Campus faculty Jack Pacey has been awarded the designation of professor emeritus.

For well over 30 years, Jack Pacey has been a staple of the School of Welding at the Kirkland Lake campus, lending his expertise, compassion and perspective to a countless number of students.

Northern College is pleased to acknowledge the widespread impact of Pacey’s teachings, which has influenced more than one generation of welding and metallurgical professionals who continue to change the industry they work in each and every day.

“As a student, he taught me what I needed to be successful as a Welding Engineering Technologist,” stated Jeff Molyneaux, Executive Director of Kirkland Lake’s Material and Joining Innovation Centre. “Jack’s vast knowledge and technical capabilities are key components to his teaching success, but it’s important to acknowledge the soft skills he imparted. We didn’t just learn, Jack taught us how to learn.”

Pacey’s dedication to his students didn’t stop when they graduated, his commitment to education extended well beyond the halls of the Kirkland Lake Campus.

“I have worked in many welding related positions and occasionally I have been technically stumped or needed solution verification,” stated Molyneaux. “Jack was always ready to provide some friendly advice or direction and many other graduates have shared the same benefit over the years.”

“Jack Pacey becomes the fifth recipient of the title professor emeritus at Northern College. We are proud to acknowledge the accomplishments and contributions of faculty like Pacey by awarding such a high honor,” stated Northern College President, Dr. Fred Gibbons. “Past recipients have been cited for many attributes that include, demonstrating a motivational influence on individuals and groups; as well as for promoting excellence in the college and post-secondary community.”
