These pre-apprenticeship programs are designed to provide learners with an exposure to the trades. Offered at our Timmins Campus, the programs are intended to be delivered face-to-face following public health guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. Each programs includes an academic upgrading, trade readiness (which will include health and safety training as well as an exposure to a secondary trade), level 1 theory and an 8-week placement.
Applicants may apply to both programs but will only be selected to participate in either Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Industrial Millwright Mechanic pre-apprenticeship training.
Delivery and Important Information
Delivery method is blended combining virtual learning with face-to-face practical.
Pathways to Success and Career Opportunities
Graduates will gain exposure to trades, Health and Safety Certifications and, accreditation for the level 1 training upon becoming registered as apprentices. Students would be able to start working as helpers or registered apprentices in the trades upon program completion.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Resident of Ontario
- Academic Assessment and proof of education
- Interest in either trade as a career
- Screening interview
