This edition has been designed in accordance with the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action (2015) and includes information about the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Indigenous rights, Indigenous law, and Indigenous-Crown relations. This course has been developed by the Indigenous Leadership Development Institute of Canada.
This course deals with board member orientation to the workings of a nonprofit board, the board’s structure, power and authority, and the governance role and eight key governance responsibilities of the board. How the board’s governance role differs from the executive director’s management role is emphasized.
The Medical Terminology course provides an introduction to the professional language used by those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of healing. The course will also introduce those not currently involved in the health care environment with an introduction to the language of medicine. In addition, the program will provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and physiology.
WHMIS 2015 (GHS)
WHMIS 2015 (GHS) online course is based on the current legislation and meets the legislated requirement for general WHMIS implementation as of December 1, 2018. Employers must also provide workplace-specific training and instruction for each of the hazardous products in the workplace.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness for Ontario
This course provides workers with health and safety awareness training as mandated under Regulation 297/13 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Content includes information about workplace rights and responsibilities, workplace hazards, and the partner organizations that make up Ontario’s occupational health and safety system.
Workplace Sexual Violence and Harassment Prevention
Workplace Sexual Violence and Harassment Orientation for Ontario Workers (Ontario Bill 132) introduces the concept of a respectful workplace and describes both appropriate and inappropriate workplace attitudes and behaviours.
Canada Labour Code Part II Orientation
Canada Labour Code, Part II, is intended for employers and employees, members of health and safety committees and representatives who are covered by Part II of the Code. Generally speaking, the Canada Labour Code establishes the legislative framework and outlines the duties and responsibilities of the employer and employees pertaining to occupational health and safety.
Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness for Ontario
This course provides supervisors with health and safety awareness training as mandated under Regulation 297/13 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Content includes information about workplace rights and responsibilities, workplace hazards and Ontario’s occupational health and safety system.
Developing Workplace Violence & Harassment Policies
The Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario has been amended to address the issue of workplace violence. Developing Workplace Violence and Harassment Policies and Programs for Ontario Workplaces educates participants about workplace violence and harassment, prevention and intervention strategies, and the legal requirements for creating and implementing appropriate policies and programs.
Due Diligence for Supervisors
Due Diligence for Supervisors explains the philosophy of the Internal Responsibility System and the principle of due diligence, and examines the measures that must be taken to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
Workplace Inspections is designed for workplaces that must adhere to provincial/territorial occupational health and safety (OHS) laws and regulations. The course identifies the inspection responsibilities of various workplace parties, describes the workplace inspection process, and provides practical workplace inspection strategies.
Incident Investigation examines the responsibilities of employers and workers when it comes to incident reporting and investigation and explains the steps that must be followed during an incident investigation.This course is designed for workplaces that must adhere to provincial/territorial occupational health and safety (OHS) laws and regulations. Although the general OHS rights and responsibilities of employers and workers are the same in each jurisdiction, the OHS legislation of each province and territory is unique.
Lockout / Tagout
The term “Lockout/Tagout” refers to specific practices and procedures to safeguard workers from the unexpected energizing or start-up of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service or maintenance activities. Lockout/Tagout explains the importance of Lockout/Tagout in protecting the health and safety of workers. The course examines basic workplace safety tenets and examines the specific stages and procedures of the Lockout/Tagout process.
Fall Protection provides participants with information about fall protection legislation, fall hazards in the workplace, and safe work practices related to the use of fall protection equipment.
Fire Safety is a basic awareness program for workplace environments that includes prevention techniques as well as information on how to use a fire extinguisher.
This course is designed to give the participant, the knowledge in fire safety and prevention, fighting a fire by recognizing user and equipment limitations, the fundamentals of fires, types of fire extinguishers, and the proper handling of the fire extinguisher.
Confined Space Awareness
When there is a confined space in the workplace, all workers in that workplace require Confined Space Awareness training as well as workplace specific training. This online course identifies the characteristics of a confined space, describes the risks associated with working in a confined space and the prescribed methods for controlling those risks, and explains the documentation requirements pertaining to confined space work.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods
In the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) course you will learn – Introduction to TDG, its regulations and proper training, proper documentation, safety marks and means of containment, forbidden goods, exemptions and special provisions as well as, immediate reporting and procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. A printable certificate is available upon completion.
Those transporting dangerous goods by Air, Sea or Rail require additional training that is not included in this program.
Please Note: A “Site” or “Job” specific orientation potential hazards is also required by the employer to fully comply with all safety legislation. Although this is a nationally recognized course, if you are currently unemployed and seeking employment it is up to your new employer to accept any prior training. They may still require you to re-train once hired.
Allergen Training Basics Program for the Food Service and Food Retail Industry
While general food safety training courses provide basic information on food allergy, overall, the foodservice and food retail industries still need a more in-depth understanding of the seriousness of food intolerances, food allergies, and anaphylaxis.
The purpose of this course is to teach you important information about managing food allergens in your work environment and help you to understand your role in keeping allergic consumers safe.
This program is designed for individuals who may be exposed to blood and body fluids or items contaminated with blood during the performance of their work and who wish to gain a basic understanding of bloodborne pathogens.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Awareness
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Awareness is a single-module course which explains the importance of PPE as a means of protecting workers from workplace hazards and describes specific types of PPE which may be used in the workplace.
COVID-19: General Canadian Workplace Safety
COVID-19: General Canadian Workplace Safety helps participants understand COVID-19, how it spreads, and general safe work practices to protect their health and the health of others.
Participants will learn about safe practices, including:
- Proper Handwashing
- Respiratory Hygiene
- Social Distancing
- Cleaning and Disinfection
- The use of non-medical face masks and gloves
- What to do if you become ill or are exposed to illness
