October 15, 2025
Announcements & Notices

Ontario colleges and full-time support staff have reached a tentative agreement. Full-Time Support Staff return to work Thursday, October 16.

See below for previous notices.

September 11, 2025: OPSEU Strike Update

Northern College has received official notice from OPSEU that full-time support staff at Ontario colleges are on strike.

Students are to continue attending their studies as both full-time and part-time faculty will be working and teaching within their respective areas of expertise.

We anticipate that there could be minor delays entering and exiting the property, along with reduced service availability at our locations. Northern College is committed to minimizing any impact for our students and our external community members, suppliers, partners and service providers.

September 3, 2025: Potential Full-Time Support Staff Work Interruption

As you may be aware, both the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), who represent all full-time support staff at the 24 Ontario public colleges, and the College Employer Council (CEC) have been involved in collective bargaining negotiations on a new contract.

Should a renewal collective agreement not be reached during the bargaining week, the OPSEU full-time support staff bargaining unit has given notice that it will look to take strike action on September 11.

If a strike should happen, students are to continue attending their studies as both full-time and part-time faculty will be working and teaching within their respective areas of expertise.

For information about the potential strike, please check your student email and student blackboard account.

You can also visit the Northern College website at northerncollege.ca/bargaining and social media posts for updates.

Please refer to information on the websites of both OPSEU and the CEC for updates.
