Northern College is proud to announce the finalization of two separate memorandums of understanding (MOU) with Ateneo De Davao University (ADDU) and Asia Pacific College (APC), both located in the Philippines.

Created as part of a broader effort to establish productive international education partnerships, these MOUs will provide students at involved institutions with the opportunity for educational exchanges, access to Northern College programming, training and more.

“We’re working diligently to build these connections to provide students with opportunities to study abroad, to benefit from resource and curriculum sharing,” stated Ahmed Baghdaddy, Executive Director, Global Engagement at Northern. “These agreements represent a high-level commitment to growth and mutual benefit – the sharing of resources and cooperation in areas of program development and refinement, to the direct benefit of all institutions involved.”

The agreement with Ateneo De Davao University will see Northern collaborate on academic mobility, international learning sessions, joint research collaboration, and global internship opportunities which support the United Nations sustainable development goals.

“For Ateneo de Davao University, partnerships are shaped by where we are. We are a university in Mindanao, Philippines, and our work is closely tied to the realities, challenges and possibilities of this region,” stated Fr. Karel S. San Juan, SJ, President of ADDU. “Our engagements, whether in teaching, research or community work, are often grounded in questions of development, peacebuilding, and the formation of communities that can respond to complex social realities.”

“In this context, our partnership with Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology takes on a particular meaning, and we look forward to carrying it forward through sustained engagement, concrete initiatives, and collaborative work that we continue to build over time,” added San Juan.

In its agreement with Asia Pacific College, Northern and APC will collaborate on program and curriculum review and development, faculty learning opportunities, training and skills development, student exchange opportunities, research and the delivery of short courses by Northern.

“Being able to collaborate with international partners is essential to ensure that higher education institutions continue to produce graduates with skills and competencies that address real-world, industry needs,” shares Agassi Adre, Director of International Linkages at Asia Pacific College. “This partnership with Northern College will enable both our institutions to share knowledge and practices from both countries, creating an environment that cultivates innovation that would benefit both Canada and the Philippines.”

Northern College is proud of its ongoing efforts to build the kinds of educational bridges which benefit students and educators around the globe and looks forward to working closely with both Ateneo De Davao University and Asia Pacific College in the years to come.

In the past year, Northern has established four international MOUs with institutions in several countries, reinforcing both the value and the reputation of Canadian post-secondary institutions and Northern College.
